I decided to throw away the build I had ready to post. I think we can do better. Toss in your ideas and lets get Doli his dam build. :)

Coldin

Hmm...I say go THF. So, Weapon Focus: Slashing, THF, Power Attack, Toughness, Weapon Spec: Slashing, ITHF, Cleave, IC: Slashing, Great Cleave, Greater THF, Greater Weapon Spec, Greater Weapon Focus, Sup. Weapon Focus, maybe a Stunning Blow and the Past Life feats.

Fighters get so many feats....

Doli
07-29-2010, 05:09 AM
Actually most of the bonus feats are going into dr...I figure I can get 10 dr or so standing.

Bunker

After redoing a few times. The Intimidate looks much better.

Figuring out the highest possible dex bonus with adamantine body and tower shield. After that, AC will be posted.

Questions thus far? HP not high enough? That can always be adjusted.

dbl check for errors in addition.

Never mind you included that...hrmm for the enhancements I'd want the 4 ranks in improved dr and brute fighting I would think would go well with intim?

Ok, there are just 3 ranks in imp. DR, and 4 in brute fighting.

That is 16 points total.

What would you want to give up?

Doli
07-29-2010, 06:46 PM
Healers friend III, Armor and Shield mastery III ? that's 18 pts actually...

Something else on Brute fighting. Is that an active enhancement? If you are shieldblocking, do you think that your DPS will be great enough to generate hate?>

Doli
07-29-2010, 09:44 PM
I don't know...I assumed the added hate would only help and yes it appears to be an active enhancement.

So drop brute fighting and just take the dr?

Brute Fighting is like CE or Power Attack .. you turn it on when you log in and forget about it.

Bunker

Brute Fighting is like CE or Power Attack .. you turn it on when you log in and forget about it.

But if it is like PA or CE. Can you have either one of those active with BF active?

Ie, if I use CE, and then hit PA, CE turns off.

Coldin
07-30-2010, 04:46 AM
I think Brute Fighting acts separately. Think of it more like Subtle Backstabbing.

Eldamir
07-30-2010, 12:18 PM
Comparing it to subtle backstabbing is more accurate.

I have a couple of ranks of it on EightyFour and usually have either PA or CE active at the same time.

Doli
07-30-2010, 06:39 PM
do you think it's worth it Eld?

Eldamir
07-30-2010, 08:17 PM
At one point, I had 3 ranks of it on EightyFour and you could see mobs gravitate towards him. Was pretty easy, though, for someone to pull agro away if I wasn't actively intimidating of providing my own DPS.

My opinion of it is that if you've got the AP to spare, take it. If not, don't lose sleep over not having it.

Questions I need answered:
What is the base max dex mod of Levik's Tower Shield?
What amount of AC is added as a Stalwart Defender III?

I figure the max AC dex with adamantine plating I can get i a +6. Base is 1, with +5 extra. So might not need to spend Tower Armor Mastery III in enhancements if the tower shield starts at higher than +1.

What else is missing for high AC?

dodge?
proteciton?
CE?
insight?

Which docents other than DoD will you want to have? I think this is a point where thinking about equipment is important. So we can figure out end game AC to go with that high Intimidate and potential high DR.

Jundak

Levik's Defender is mithral, so max dex is 4.
Stalwart Defender III adds +2 stacking AC, +3 to max dex with shields, +1 max dex with med. armor or +2 with heavy armor.

You're missing Natural and Alchemical bonuses in that list.

The Blademark's Docent might be something to really look into nabbing. +3 enhancement bonus with Life Shield and DR 5/magic at level 4 is kinda hard to pass up, imo. And the Epic docent is just plain nuts...+6 enhancement, Life Shield, DR 5/epic, +2 reinforced plating, and two augment slots. :)

From the loot thread.
http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s220/jgould2005/DDO/Items/Shields/LeviksDefender.jpg

For other docents, I would suggest a dragontouched docent with +5 resist (or +10% healing amp or +15% incite), +5 protect and Levik's defender. Supposedly, the refuge lottery system is getting easier to play with U7, so might actually be worth trying to get a good set of runes at that point.

Eldamir
08-02-2010, 09:51 PM
and agreed on the Epic Blademark's Docent ..

Coldin

Also, a fighter gets some enhancements to increase the amount of dex bonus with tower shields.

Jundak
08-02-2010, 11:24 PM
That's what Bunker was talking about with the Tower Shield Mastery III enhancement, Coldin...or, more specifically, trying to save AP's by NOT taking TSM III.

However, since he's looking at the Stalwart Defender line, he won't need to use the TSM enhancements at all since his maximum overall Dex won't get him anything higher than a +6 bonus with his current build plan (Mithral tower shield + SD III nets a +7 maximum Dex bonus).

Bunker

Yeah, if you can see where I stopped working on the AC section of the OP, I was trying to figure out the max dex bonuses of the armor and shield.

Basically, lets say I can get only a +5 max dex bonus on armor, but I can get a max dex bonus of +7 on the Leviks tower shield. There would be no point in spending the points on tower mastery II and III if the armor max dex bonus cannot reach the same as the shield. So then I can use those points for the other enhancements that Doli wants. Ya know.

It has been a long long time since I have actually played a s/b character, and so this is not just a build for Doli, but also a wonderful teaching tool for myself.

Bunker

....also. Thx for the input on the AC stuff I'm missing. I also thought of a few things on the way home from work today.

1. Shower
2. Open btl of wine
3. Pop in movie
4. Check AH

.....then will continue. :D

Jundak

With Adamantine Body, you can actually get the max Dex bonus up to a +6:

1 Base
3 Armor Mastery III
2 Stalwart Defender III

So...here's what I'm looking at for Beholder AC at end game:

10 Base
8 Adamantine Body
6 Dex (SD III + AM III)
2 SD III
1 Dodge
9 Levik's Defender
6 Epic Bladesmark Docent (Enhancement Bonus)
2 Epic Bladesmark Docent (+2 Reinforced Plating)
2 Alchemical
5 Combat Expertise
5 Deflection Item
4 Insight (GS Weapon)
3 Chattering Ring (Dodge Bonus)
2 Chaosguarde (Dodge Bonus)
4 Stalwart Defender: Superior Defense Stance (Dodge Bonus)
4 Epic Chimera's Helm (Natural Bonus)

= 73 Beholder AC

1 Ranger's Barkskin
4 Inspire Heroics (Dodge Bonus [stacks with SD III])
2 Recitation
5 Paladin Aura

= 85 AC, Raid Buffs

4 FAB III

= 89 AC, situational

I don't think the Epic Chimera's Helm is in the planned gear loadout since you're looking to wear the Circle of Hatred (That is a head item, right?), but I added it into my calculations to show the max AC possible that I can personally see.

Don't know if this helps ya or not, Bunk.

Thorzian

circle of hatred is a ring

Bunker
08-03-2010, 12:09 PM
Circle of Hatred was going to be on the equipment list.

However, with Chattering Ring and ToD rings, the 2 ring slots can be covered with plety of options. This is where any build gets interesting. Depending on equipment layout, will determine fina stats/numbers.

Jundak
08-03-2010, 02:36 PM
Didn't know that, Thor. Thank ye...

Since the Circle of Hatred is a ring, it won't hurt as much to swap it into the Chattering Ring's slot. You'll only lose 3 Dodge AC and spot 13...as oppossed to 4 Natural AC and 22 SR from the helm.

Now here's an interesting question: What else is intimidate seen on, aside from helms, necklaces, and rings? Anything at all...?
