So now that I'm back on a solid high speed connection I want to start really equiping and tweaking out my characters gear. Since my battle cleric is my most enjoyable character to play I want to start with him. Just not sure which sets are best, how to best fit pieces in, or what's better than others.

A little background on the build. It's a 12 cleric/6 paladin/2 monk primary melee "DPS" build, but does have maximize for blade barriers, and can help group heal in a pinch.

Current gear:

Head: Minos Legen
Necklace: Wisdom +6
Trinket: Bloodstone/Bottle of Air/Mummified Bat/House P
Cloak: Cloak of Night (level 16)
Belt: Con +6
Ring: Cha +6
Gloves: Ethereal Gloves (Dex +5)
Boots: Striding 30%
Ring: Greater False Life
Bracers: Strength +6
Armor: Dragontouched (10% healing amp, Air Guard, Magma Guard)
Goggles: Blindness Ward

So help me out with some suggestions for both getting ready for epics and also all epic geared out.

couple things i noticed right off.

you're belt is a con 6 anyway, get one of the amrath con6/gfl belts and free up a ring slot

i dont see any green steel hp or sp. your wisdom 6 could be a concordant opposition green steel, cover extra hitpoints or spellpoints and also cover the wisdom 6

thats a start. im not sure what epics you are after so gear set-up before that is hard to plan. but i would at least start there. get some doubled up powers instead of spreading out so thin. bracers too. hound bracers would keep the strength and add more healing amp.

you did not include weapons. many don't agree with me but exceptional stat +2 on greensteel is a habbit of mine. especially if you're after more then 2 exceptional stats, which i assume a battle cleric would be with your gear. looks like strength, con, wis, and charisma. 2 tod rings, 2 greensteel weapons (min2 supports con)

/agreed with Thor.

Get con/op or triple-earth GS item and since you're a melee, get a min2 weapon..

Combat style?

Greensteel in the future plan is a con/op SP item for sure. Also planning on grabbing a Lightning II falchion. Mineral II I can hold on for now since I have a +5 meta of PG for the boss fights.

Melee style is Two-handed falchion.

Would like to work in some kind of DR, but not sure what is out there other than the greeves. Been out of the loot loop for almost a year now.

Good call on the amrath belt. As for exceptional I would want Strength, Constitution, and Charisma. Dexterity bringing up the rear for an added +1 to reflex, but not of super importance.

hmm.. lightning 2 greensteel can give a +2 exceptional cha or dex. again if you choose to take your tier 3 greensteel power as exceptional stat. many epic armors give dr. i think actually that all epic fullplates give dr5/something.

i'd concentrate on amrath for now. keep tod on timer and get the right mix of stat/exceptional stat on the rings you can find. you'll also pick up a belt as you go. a bladebarriering toon with good melee and self healing should make quick work of sins of attrition. farm that for large ingredients for your greensteel.

and hop into as many epics as you can to get the token ball rolling. i made that mistake and only ran raids now i actually have a couple epic items and cant upgrade them.

and you might want to use that lit II instead of your met/pg for those boss fights. i believe the falchion holy/shockburst/lightning strike beats a non greensteel dr breaker due to the crit range. hell, i think the numbers on falchions/scimitars/rapiers put lit II on par with min II with holy/shock burst vs holy/acid burst

I assume you didn't get Calvary Plate (http://ddowiki.com/page/Epic_Cavalry_Plate) - that has some good DR on it. The epic Stonemeld (http://ddowiki.com/page/Epic_Stonemeld_Plate_Armor)plate from Von6 would be nice as well.

Yes, Radiant Servant II. Anything heavier than light armor is out for the build due to the 2 monk levels. I missed out on the event, but hope to grind the crap out of it when it comes back around again.

Stay with outfit/robes then. Is it an AC build at all? If not put some cool stuff on a DT outfit & call it a day..

Not an AC build at all so I went with magma and air guards on my DT armor. Was just trying to figure out a way to get some DR worked in beyond Stawart Pack.

I assume if U have 2 lvls of monk, that U have evasion....where is your resistance item? Resist +5 on your DT is always nice.

U currently have +6 wis on your neck and BW goggles. I would think about GS neck and VOD goggles. As Thor said, I would go concord opp on neck with all HP (+45 HP) or SP if you prefer (300 SP)

I am a NOOB when it comes to EPICs so I am not really sure what U might want to look at. Do you need any +7 stat items if U had exceptional +2 on str/con/cha/dex already. If so, you would look at making your spectral gloves epic, the bloodstone epic, belt of the mronan epic and the always popular SOS epic. Just some thoughts.

Bottom line on epics:
raid till you pull the SoS, shard, and seal, buy the scroll, make an eSoS, and redo your entire build around it.

So I hear. ;)

dont forget the epic marilith chain.. a must have accessory for any eSoS. alignment changes are cheap. just dont go paladin!

Doh, I had your build mentally confused with another one I read today that was cleric 16, fighter 4. sorry about that :)

Here's one option, since you want to use Blade Barriers.

Weapon: Epic Sword of Shadow (+6 DEX, Silver/Good Aug Crystal)
Buffing & Casting BB: Superior Pot VI Scepter & Skiver (Archmagi, Greater Arcane Lore, Extend I, Empower II)

Head: Epic Helm of Frost (Greater Cold Resist, +7 CHA, Wiz VI)
Necklace: Shintao Cord (+6 CON, +15 Concentration)
Trinket: Bloodstone (Seeker +6, +8 if Epic)
Cloak: Epic Envenomed Cloak (+5 Resist, Greater Poison Guard, +7 CON, Good Luck +2)
Belt: Vorne's Belt (+6 CON, GFL)
Ring: Kyosho (+6 WIS, +1 Exc Str, +2 Exc Str)
Gloves: Epic Gloves of the Claw (+6 STR, +5 Intim, 30% Healing Amp)
Boots: Epic Boots of Corrosion (Superior VI Null/Corr, Greater Acid Resist, Disintegration Guard, Exc CHA +1, Spell Focus Evocation)
Ring: Gnawed Ring (+6 STR, +1 Exc Con, 20% Healing Amp)
Bracers: Epic Bracers of the Claw (Heavy Fort, +2 Exc CON)
Armor: Epic Vulkoorim Fighting Leathers (Greater Fire Resistance, +4 to hit, Sneak Attack +3, +15 Hide, Exc WIS +1, Toughness)
Goggles: Greensteel (+45 HP, +10 Diplo, +10 Haggle, +6 WIS, +2 CON Skills, +4 STR Skills, Concordant Opposition)

Yikes! That's a lot of grinding. But exactly what I was looking for, thanks Ren. Suggestions for pre-epic gear. I'm way behind on even basic raid gear and would want to work towards some of that to be ready to step into epic.

While you're out in Amrath.. Rather than the Shintao cord, why not go with one of the Bard necklaces - which would give you superior potency VI as well as Wiz VI.

Torin's Choker Necklace Superior Potency VI, Wizardry VI Warchanter Sins of Attrition When both items are equipped you will gain an additional bard songs after resting, and Maximize Spells cost 4 Spell points less and Extend spell will cost 1 spell point less.
Warchanter's Band Ring Charisma +6, Exceptional Strength +1 Warchanter Tower of Despair When both items are equipped you will gain an additional bard songs after resting, and Maximize Spells cost 4 Spell points less and Extend spell will cost 1 spell point less.

Paired with it's ring, you would get cheaper blade barriers and still get your exceptional STR that Ren suggested.

Of course, by the time you get all the other stuff Ren lists, you could carry *both* sets around! :D
