And we had to type em uphill, both ways, through three feet of snow. And ya know what? We liked it, we loved it! Damn kids these days with their little bubble headed clicky emoticons, you have no idea how good you have it.

The biggest problem with most of those sites - they are assuming you want to add smilies to one post - not upload all of them to the forum database.

After a bit of searching I think I found a large enough group - enjoy :)

Edit - it looks like its a bigger task than I guessed - I'm going to have to upload each smiley that we want added. I don't see anyway to import a bunch at a time :(

Jules, in the admin section, go to Add Smilie, instead of Upload Smilie. There's a section that says "Add Multiple Smilies".

I've uploaded bunches of new smilies - when I try to add a bunch it says there is nothing new to add - but unless I manually add each and every new one - it doesn't recognize them. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, but definately not going to add each new smiliey - waay too much time

I've been having a bad week -which is why I haven't been on much - everything from broken window on my car to losing my wallet which contained my pda/cell phone etc (got it back after cancelling everything including ordering a new phone) /rant off

Hmm, well, I think you just need to put the smilies in the smilie folder of the forums. I'm not even going to pretend I know how this works though, so I assume you've probably already done anything I'd try.

I figured out the problem. You have smilies in sub-directories of the smilie folder, and it doesn't recognize that for some reason. I added all of the smilies in the base smilie folder, and I'm moving the others there and adding them now.

So plenty of smilies coming soon!

However, if y'all could clean up the default/quick window (that box on the right as you reply) I would appreciate it greatly. Having animations on my screen while I'm trying to type gives me great anger. I blocked the one that was there yesterday... and now see there's more. Plus, like many, I'm at work so humpin' smilies isn't exactly a great thing to have readily available when I reply.

Oops... Dun shoot the fixer guy, I just make the smilies work, I didn't pick em :(.

Well, the problem you were having was the "Add Multiple Smilies" wasn't recognizing the sub-directory of the smilie folder for some reason... I just moved the smilies from there to the main smilie folder and it worked :).

The problem with that was I didn't want to have to rename all those silly files - they were just numbers.

Is anyone working on the broken emoticons?

like the ones that should be animated and aren't? (i.e. :stab: :matrix: :boohoo:)
and the ones that are missing their transparent background (i.e. :weirdo: :firedevil: :sliced: )

these are just examples .. there are more than just these that are broken..

Well they're image files that we've uploaded so I if you can point us to other animated images you want instead of or in addition to those - post it here.

Not for 3 more weeks. But...

Relatives have come and gone and spring (summer?) cleaning is over...so it's back to regular cleaning which is far far less time consuming.

Aside from laundry and mopping I can have my entire house cleaned (dusted, swept and scrubbed) in an hour with regular cleaning.

Deep cleaning on the other hand includes such things as whitewashing walls, cleaning the outer windows, scrubbing baseboards, recaulking tile....I think you get the idea. :o

Now I just have my workouts which are down to 1 hour a day now and my 4 hours of work (I work at home). Add 8 hours of sleep and that leaves me with 11 hours a day to divide between child, husband and self. :girldance:

Hmm...

There is an entire subset of smilies labelled "weapons" and not many if any seemed to be used.

Trying to cut down the numbers here (faster loading time when you click "more"), so if no one has any objections I'm going to delete most of them.

No problem with me. I think the weapons smilies just have such a limited use, so no one ever bothers with them.

Hrm...okay that took forever...have sorted the emoticons and cleaned out duplicates and a lot of unused/unecessary ones. Have also added a few new ones.

For other admins:

Smilies are divided into 5 categories. Generic, Animated, Static, Character & Occasion. Within each category except Occasion the smilies are sorted alphabetically by first letter. The sort number corresponds to the matching alphabet letter (example: A1 B2 C3 D4, etc.).

Occasion is sorted as follows:

welcome/congrats/get well 1
birthday/party 2
newyear 3
valentine 4
patrick 5
easter 6
mom's 7
memorial/vet 8
father's 9
id 10
halloween 11
thanks 12
christ/hann/kwanz 13

If anyone sees a static one that should actually be animated, or finds a broken link, please let me know and I'll try to fix it.
