View Full Version : Moderators

Well, now that House T is back, and people are starting to return, it's time to set up a few moderators.
First, we're looking for one or two Super Moderators. These should be people that visit the boards daily or near daily. They'll be in charge of moderating the boards as a whole, which includes Moving, Renaming, Deleting, Editing threads, and banning users who are out of line (basically spammers). Basically, the job is the make sure House T stays nice and neat, is a good place for discussion for the community.
We're also looking for a few other basic moderators. These people would be solely responsible for just a few different forums, generally ones that require special attention such as Scheduled Groupage. Same rules apply as the Super Moderators, but the responsibility is really only towards threads, not users. These moderators don't have to log in daily, but should visit the threads weekly at least.
Anyway, since we're a relatively small community, the responsibilities of these jobs are fairly small. It's more of just being a helping hand for Jules and I when we can't be around. And of course, being a moderator is subject to approval of Jules and I and any other moderators that may already exist. Simply post below if you're interested in helping and specify whether you wish to be a Super Mod, or a normal mod and the forum you'd like to keep an eye on.

I visit almost daily and would help out if you need it, in any capacity.
(Edit: Geez, looks like we have some power-starved GSI folks here!)

I'd offer to help, but I know it won't be too long until the new House T ends up on the list of blocked sites at work.

Then try either www.housetharashk.org (http://www.housetharashk.org) and www.housetharashk.info (http://www.housetharashk.info) as I grabbed all 3 domains and those two point to www.housetharashk.net (http://www.housetharashk.net). To avoid the work block just alternate which url you use ;). Hope that helps.

Well i was going to speak up for myself since I'm here thoughout everday. But then again I'm lazy and assumed that with my recent attempt to gain control of the GSI guild area :D I'd never make the cut for moderator.

I'm a little detached from the threads on grouping, builds, and such, thou I am online at different hours. You can put me as moderator over the roleplaying section again if you like.

Yeti you can have access to upload similes and other design goodness, but I don't think you're going to have the ability to change titles (not if I have anything to say about it - otherwise we'll all be titled "Abomidable Snowman" ) :p

I think before we get a buncha moderators we should change the report-a-post button so it's more user friendly. The exclamation point is kinda intimidating. Not to mention I think most of us here can agree that the report-a-post function was vastly underused on the DDO forums. ;)
I know, we should change it to a cookie. Each time you click it, the user gets a cookie. After they get enough cookies, the Gelatinous Cookie Monster (tm) hunts down said cookie holder with a overwhelming sense of duty and vengeance against the atrocious crimes against the sacred cookie. And if others should question the Gelatinous Cookie Monster's intentions, they will have a "Eat Me" sign taped to their back, which acts as a 5d100 sack full of cookies in attracting the attention of the Gelatinous Cookie Monster.
Once the Gelatinous Cookie Monster finally finishes off it's prey, it shares the stash of cookies with his loyal worshippers. Those who assist in the snaring of the prey get a larger portion of the cookies. All cookies distributed in this manner are exempt from the Gelatinous Cookie Monster's detect cookie ability. Generally, if one holds but a few cookies from the loyal worship of the Gelatinous Cookie Monster, any cookies given to said follower by way of the Give-Cookie-For-Post function are, by a special grandfather clause, are also considered exempt from the Gelatinous Cookie Monster's ability.
Any talk of getting around and/or avoiding cookies, also known as exploiting, causes any non-follower of the Gelatinous Cookie Monster to suffer 10d25 damage which bypasses all damage resistances, including DR/cookie and DR/jello. Any non-follower of the Gelatinous Cookie Monster who is exposed to it for an extended length of time disappears, never to be heard from again. In certain rare instances, generally involving Sean Connery, exposure may result in being erased from all history. In most other cases, limited exposure results in minor changes in past conversations, altered memories, and even blank spots that cannot be accounted for.
Note that the Gelatinous Cookie Monster has several known affiliates:
1) Fanbois - These fanatics do not follow the Gelatinous Cookie Monster, but rather the mysterious guiding force behind it. They are considered followers of the creature for the purpose of immunity to its abilities.
2) Squirrels - It has come to the attention of the underground faction attempting to strike back against the Gelatinous Cookie Monster that it very well may have allied itself with "Dirty little nut munchers". Approach with extreme caution.
3) Traumatized Goats - It appears that escaped prisoners of one of the Gelatinous Cookie Monster's previous victims have rallied against the allies of their former captor. Consider armed and dangerous, especially if there's a frankenstein-esque photoshopped actress and a lollypop nearby.
Edit: Nobody liked the joke?

Just read it...and Yes, X. :D
I'd be willing to take on a couple duties if GSI hasn't already done a blitzkrieg through the job listings.
I don't post everyday, but I hop in everyday a couple of times to read what's up with my buds.

Sorry X, work has been keeping me busy today.
Beyond that I am toying with the rebirth of House T raids.
Screw that BS. I am actively plotting the return of House T raids. Give the fact that they were one of the things that made us such a strong community, I think that its time to bring'em back. That being said some of these other slackers need to step up and run some raids too. ;)

This serge of power hungry GSI members raises an important thought; Do giants wear socks?

I don't mind helping but I'm more of a developer (code) and network admin who likes to mess around with pretty stuff (graphics) once in a while than a policeman. :p
Besides, I hate censorship...unless it applies to plat farmers. ;)
Tib - where do you think we get our guild sock stockpile from? Hint: It ain't China.
Xearth - In two years the sexually ambiguous cube ate 2 posts. W closed one thread I can think of due to Guildious Dramaticus. Point being, we don't use infraction cookies to tell us when someone is misbehaving. We collectively read the posts, if someone's being a dick, we tell them to stop. Part of the beauty here is how casual it is. Normal forum misbehavior is pretty tough to do when you have to play with the people you piss off. And if you don't play with us (the House T collective) then why the hell are you here? Y'know?
A Giant's sock is just a Halfling's smelly sleeping bag.

That sleeping bag comment was funny sheet btw!

You know, I wasn't really expecting such a huge response to be Moderators. I was thinking only 1 or 2 people would volunteer.
I really want at least have 1 Super Moderator that's not a member of GSI. As for everyone else, think of a section you'd think you'd be good watching over, and we'll try to work something out.

As far as a name for your lizard...how about Sean Connery? :)

I can see it now. Mod 7.5 raid: Coldin hasn't been heard from in weeks, his dragons are acting up and are bothering the neighborhood. Any volunteers to go in and re-capture the dragons? Kill any dragons and you fail. They are so much more valueable alive ;)
