After the flame fest of "that" thread which was locked and removed, Coldin and I decided that we needed to set up some ground rules for House T. This is probably late in coming, but honestly, I didn't think we would need them. I am very disappointed in the community in general that we have to do this at all.
These rules all fall under two basic ideas: Treat others with respect. Treat everyone as valued members of the community. This was not done this weekend. The individuals that we feel acted or re-acted badly will receive infraction points. These can lead to disciplinary actions. Continued use of these boards constitutes your agreement to these guidelines.
The ground rules are as follows:
I. Threats outright or implied to community members will not be tolerated.
II. Arguing is fine, so long as its done civilly.
III. Be aware that we cannot control who has access to these boards and as such children may be reading them. Please refrain from using derogatory language.
IV. Guild Drama or In-fighting. These should be kept to private messages or within your own forum.
Please keep in mind, my name is not Tolero nor Quarion, its Jules or Julie. I don't like to wear the WebAdmin hat, it clashes with my outfit and messes with my hairdo.
I will leave you all with two poems that I grew up with. I try to follow them everyday whether in speech or typed word.
Three Gates
from The Arabian
If you are tempted to reveal
A tale to you someone has told
About another, make it pass,
Before you speak, three gates of gold.
These narrow gates: First, "Is it true?"
Then, "Is it needful?" In your mind
Give truthful answer. And the next
Is the last and narrowest, "Is it kind?"
And if to reach your lips at last
It passes through these gateways three,
Then you may tell the tale, nor fear
What the result of speech may be.

There is so much good in the worst of us,
And so much bad in the best of us,
That it ill behooves any of us
To find fault with the rest of us.
